Fahrettin Altun broke a record before leaving office! He doubled his spending

The Presidential Directorate of Communications spent a total of 5.2 billion TL in the first nine months of 2025. CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut stated that a large portion of these expenditures was made in July, and that the 1 billion 25 million TL spent during this period was particularly noteworthy.

RECORD IN JULY

The Directorate of Communications' spending peaked in July. During the period when Fahrettin Altun was removed from office, the directorate spent 1 billion 25 million TL, showing a two-fold increase compared to previous months. The increase during this period was also confirmed by reports previously reflected in the public domain. The spending in July consumed a significant portion of the annual budget.

According to the data shared by Bulut, this massive expenditure in July doubled the Directorate of Communications' spending in other months. Here are the expenditures the institution made in the first nine months of 2025:

January: 445 million TL

February: 704 million TL

March: 416 million TL

April: 624 million TL

May: 507 million TL

June: 436 million TL

July: 1 billion 25 million TL

August: 429 million TL

September: 616 million TL

It was stated that a total of 5 billion 206 million TL was spent in the first nine months.

Criticizing the Directorate of Communications' spending, Bulut stated that contrary to claims that the institution operates to "strengthen the Turkey brand," it has turned into a "black propaganda organ of the Palace." Bulut argued that the directorate, which he compared to the Presidential Palace, uses public resources not to inform the public, but to finance the government's propaganda.

19 MILLION TL DAILY SPENDING

Making statements regarding the directorate's daily spending, Bulut noted that the daily expenditure of 19 million TL is equivalent to the monthly salary of 1,142 retirees or 873 minimum wage earners. Emphasizing that this expenditure amount is "unacceptable," Bulut said, "While citizens are struggling to make ends meet, it is inexplicable for an institution to spend 19 million TL every day."

BUDGET MAY BE INSUFFICIENT

Reminding that the budget determined for the Directorate of Communications for 2025 is 6 billion 155 million TL, Bulut warned that if these expenditures continue, the budget may be insufficient by the end of the year.
