Demirören Holding Board Member Tayfun Demirören was taken into custody after being detected by the artificial intelligence-supported camera system deployed at Istanbul Airport.

Journalist Fatih Altaylı stated that high-resolution cameras and an AI-supported facial recognition system are actively operating at Istanbul Airport.

It was stated that thanks to this system, Tayfun Demirören's image was processed to identify him, and once it was determined that there was an arrest warrant against him, the police took action.

"A technology straight out of a Hollywood movie sent Tayfun Demirören behind bars," said Altaylı, emphasizing that this incident demonstrates the level reached by security technologies in Turkey.

ATTENTION DRAWN TO THE KALYON-DEMİRÖREN CONNECTION

Altaylı also brought another striking aspect of the incident to the agenda. Stating that the Demirören family has a family connection with the Kalyon Group, which operates Istanbul Airport, Altaylı used the following expressions:

"The Kalyon Group, which installed this system and operates the airport, was related to the Demirören family by marriage. Tayfun Demirören's sibling was an in-law to the Kalyoncu family. Demirören's niece was married to the son of the Kalyoncu family."

Altaylı also commented on the statement made by Demirören Holding after the arrest. Noting that the statement was remarkable, Altaylı used ironic language: "I wonder if, in order to ensure justice, we should take the collection tasks of public banks away from political intelligence and connect them to artificial intelligence instead?"
