Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan made a statement following the 3.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Tekirdağ in the Sea of Marmara and was also felt in Istanbul.
According to data from AFAD, a 3.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in Marmaraereğlisi, Tekirdağ. The tremor at 11:36 AM was recorded at a depth of 18 kilometers.
While the earthquake, which was also felt in Istanbul, caused brief panic, all eyes turned to experts. In particular, whether this earthquake was a precursor became a subject of curiosity.
Regarding the matter, Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan made a statement on his X account. Ercan said, "It is an aftershock of the decaying main earthquake. Everything is normal, there is no need to panic."
