First poll results after the detention attempt against İmamoğlu revealed! Even a company close to the government could not hide the loss of votes

The arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Union of Municipalities of Türkiye President Ekrem İmamoğlu has caused widespread repercussions on the political agenda, while the results of a poll conducted during the same period have drawn attention.

ORC Research, known for its proximity to the government, shared the results of its "Political Trends Research" conducted between March 5-20, 2025, with the public. The poll also covers the period when İmamoğlu was detained and the arrest process began.

CHP AHEAD IN ISTANBUL

In the research, participants were asked, "If there were a general election this Sunday, which party would you vote for?" While the CHP's vote share in Istanbul was measured at 33 percent, the AKP remained at 30.4 percent. The DEM Party ranked third in Istanbul with a vote share of 7.5 percent.

Following the arrest and removal of İmamoğlu from office, how the poll results would change, especially in Istanbul, has become a subject of curiosity.

CHP LEADS BY A WIDE MARGIN IN ANKARA AND IZMIR

Another remarkable result of the poll was the picture in Ankara and Izmir. While the CHP surpassed the AKP in Ankara, it became the leading party by a wide margin in Izmir.

Looking at the general picture, the CHP became the leading party in 16 provinces, while the AKP was at the top in 13 provinces.
