First statement from Prosecutor Ercan Kayhan's killer revealed! 'We argued, he swore at me...'

Public Prosecutor Ercan Kayhan, who served at the Istanbul Courthouse, was subjected to a knife attack at a restaurant he visited in the Ömerli neighborhood of Çekmeköy. The incident occurred at approximately 21:15 in the evening. Kayhan, who was seriously injured, could not be saved despite all interventions.

APPREHENDED WITH THE WEAPON

The 19-year-old assailant, Mustafa Can Gül, was taken into custody immediately after the incident along with the weapon used in the crime. The investigation into the murder is being conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

BODY TAKEN TO FORENSIC MEDICINE

The body of the late Prosecutor Kayhan was transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue to determine the exact cause of death following the examination at the scene.

SUSPECT HAS AN EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL RECORD

During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Gül, had records for "violence against women," "stalking," and "violation of residential immunity." It was also revealed that he was held at Maltepe Prison between November 9, 2024, and January 15, 2025.

A GRUDGE DATING BACK YEARS

According to the information obtained, the suspect worked as a waiter at the restaurant where the attack took place approximately two years ago. It is alleged that Prosecutor Kayhan frequented the establishment during that period, and that arguments occurred between the parties, which led to tension between them.
