Food coloring found in that tea brand: Ministry updates the list
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its list of food products that are adulterated or contain substances that could endanger health.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues its inspections regarding products that are subject to imitation and adulteration to ensure that citizens have access to safe food.
The Ministry examines samples taken in laboratory environments to determine whether products comply with regulations. Products and companies determined to be non-compliant are shared with the public.
In the latest update made by the Ministry, new companies and products have been added to the lists of "imitation-adulteration" and "foods that pose a risk to health."
Within the scope of the inspections, non-compliance was detected in two different tea products belonging to the company Adnan Akın-Öz Akçay Gıda Pazarlama, which operates in Istanbul.
According to Ministry data, it was determined that food coloring was used in the Öz Akçay Altın brand Leaf Black Tea and the Öz Akçay brand Filiz Black Tea products. It was stated that food coloring is an additive not permitted by regulations and that its presence in tea could pose a risk to consumer health.
PHARMACEUTICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENT FOUND IN PASTE
Another product included in the "Foods That Pose a Risk to Health" list published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry was the Jetplus Maximum Performance brand paste. Examinations revealed that this product contained a pharmaceutical active ingredient.
