Footage of the suspect who killed Falyalı's former financier released: Here is that footage!

Cemil Önal, who was once known as the "finance manager" for Halil Falyalı, was subjected to an armed attack on Thursday, May 1, at a hotel in the Rijswijk district of The Hague, Netherlands. Önal, who was critically injured, lost his life at the scene.

Launching an investigation following the incident, the Dutch police shared a photograph of the suspect who carried out the attack with the public yesterday.

In the police statement, it was noted that the suspect is a male, approximately 1.80 meters tall, of normal or large build, with a beard, and wearing black clothing. It was also reported that the suspect was likely wearing black sneakers with white soles, possibly of the Adidas brand.

HE WAS AMONG FALYALI'S CLOSEST ASSOCIATES

Cemil Önal was one of the figures in the inner circle of casino boss Halil Falyalı, who was killed in Cyprus in 2022. He had previously claimed to have managed Falyalı's financial affairs for a period.

Following the Falyalı assassination, an arrest warrant was issued for Önal, who fled Turkey and sought refuge abroad.

Captured in the Netherlands in December 2023, Önal was not sent back to Turkey despite an extradition request. The legal process in the Netherlands was ongoing.

BOMBSHELL ALLEGATIONS

Önal most recently returned to the spotlight with an interview he gave to Northern Cypriot journalist Ayşemden Akın. In the interview published in the newspaper Bugün Kıbrıs under the headline "Halil Falyalı is Alive," Önal made striking allegations.

In the interview in question, Önal claimed that Falyalı had established relationships with certain bureaucrats, politicians, and their associates in Turkey, that these relationships were maintained through blackmail tapes, and that some investigation files were closed in exchange for bribes. The name of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's close circle was also mentioned among these allegations.

RESPONSE FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

Following the appearance of these allegations in the press, a written statement was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry stated that the allegations put forward were "completely untrue" and characterized them as a "systematic smear campaign."
