Gambling platform in Cyprus under scrutiny: Former Vice President also invited!
The Cyprus-based Keydrop platform, which directs young people to gambling via the internet, has been placed under scrutiny. It has emerged that the company sponsored e-sports teams in Turkey and encouraged users under the age of 18 to gamble. The program also highlighted that synthetic cannabinoids continue to spread on the streets through various means. At the same time, it was revealed that former Vice President Fuat Oktay also attended events for the Keydrop platform in question. Here are the details...
The dark side of the internet is steering young people toward both gambling and drugs. The ARENA program, broadcast on Sözcü TV, revealed the massive danger posed by virtual gambling platforms.
It was stated that Keydrop receives payments from its users in exchange for in-game items and creates a virtual gambling environment by promising high winnings. It was emphasized that the platform attracts the attention of young people by advertising to streamers on digital platforms in Turkey, and also enables users under the age of 18 to join the system through various payment methods.
SPONSORED E-SPORTS TEAMS
It was noted that the platform does not settle for digital advertisements alone, but also increases its influence over young people by sponsoring e-sports teams.
Even more striking was the revelation that former Vice President Fuat Oktay was invited to an event held by one of these e-sports teams.
DRUG DANGER DRAWS ATTENTION
The ARENA program drew attention not only to the danger of gambling but also to the threat of synthetic drugs. It was reported that synthetic cannabinoids, which are used by being soaked into paper or consumed in electronic cigarettes, are becoming increasingly widespread in Turkey and continue to exist in the market despite large-scale operations.
According to the information provided, while 1,056 kilograms of synthetic cannabinoids were seized in Turkey in 2022, this amount increased by 89 percent in 2023, reaching 1,994 kilograms. The seizure of 245 units of synthetic cannabinoids, enough for 1.5 million uses, in a single major operation in Antalya last year, revealed the scale of the danger.
