He caused the death of Yunus Emre Göçer! Were the Somali President's son and his family granted Turkish citizenship?

On November 30, 2023, Hassan Shekh Mohamud, the son of the Somali President, struck motorcycle courier Yunus Emre Göçer from behind on the highway, causing his death; the incident remained a major topic of discussion in Turkey for a long time.

In the police report prepared after the incident, no fault was attributed to the driver, and Mohamed Hassan was released after his statement was taken.

Although an international travel ban was imposed on Hassan on December 7, 2023, following the media coverage of the accident and the significant public outcry, it was learned that he had fled the country long before this date. Journalist Fatih Ergin has now put forward a sensational claim regarding the accident that shook Turkey.

TURKISH CITIZENSHIP GRANTED TO THE COURIER'S KILLER AND HIS FAMILY

Hassan, who returned to Turkey in January 2024 and was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for "causing death by negligence," had his sentence later commuted to a judicial fine of 27,300 Turkish Lira.

In a post on his social media account, Ergin stated the following:

"I have received information that Turkish citizenship was granted to the Somali President's son, who killed a courier in Istanbul, during the process following the accident."

Sources reported that he became a citizen by changing his name.

It was revealed that he held a humanitarian residence permit at the time of the accident, and the question of on what grounds it was granted remained unanswered!

Note: A total of 36 people from the Somali President's family and relatives have been granted citizenship!
