He had been released under judicial control: What did Esat Yontunç say in his prosecutor's statement?

Acun Medya General Coordinator Esat Yontunç was detained as part of a drug investigation targeting celebrities conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Yontunç, who was apprehended at Istanbul Airport, was referred to the courthouse after a health check and was released under judicial control.

RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

Detained Esat Yontunç was first taken for a health check. It was reported that Yontunç provided a drug test. Following the completion of the procedures, he was taken to the courthouse to give his statement. After the proceedings there, Yontunç was released with a travel ban.

PROSECUTOR'S STATEMENT REVEALED

Esat Yontunç's statement to the prosecutor has also been reflected in the press. In his statement, Yontunç declared that his monthly income is 500 thousand TL, and emphasized that he has never used drugs in his life and has never been in environments where drugs are used. He said the following in his statement:

“I have never used drugs in my life. I have not been in environments where drugs are used. I do not attend such events either. Furthermore, I did not mediate for prostitution. I cannot have such communication with anyone. I did not attend the entertainment event organized by the business called Monkey Project. I only met with a person named Charlie Can from this firm a few times. A situation such as drug trafficking with him is absolutely out of the question.”

Yontunç also made statements regarding some names asked by the prosecutor. Stating that he does not know Ege Mutaf and does not know what he does for a living, Yontunç noted that he knows Şeyma Subaşı as the ex-wife of his former business partner, but that he has never been in environments where drugs were used with her either. Yontunç continued his explanation as follows:

“I do not know what this person does for a living either. I have not had any communication with her in any way. I have known the Şeyma Subaşı you asked about for a long time. She is the ex-wife of my business partner. I have never been in environments where drugs or stimulants were used with her in any way; I have never had such relationships. Finally, I would like to state in my testimony that even the questions you asked caused me to feel ashamed. I have never had such relationships in my life.”

Finally, Esat Yontunç said that he is against drug use and that he warns the people around him about this issue. He stated, “I warn everyone around me not to use drugs. When I heard that there were such accusations against me, I came here with confidence in myself.”

WHO IS ESAT YONTUNÇ?

Esat Yontunç was born on May 5, 1969, in Istanbul and serves as the General Coordinator at Acun Medya.

Yontunç, who began his education at Moda College, graduated from Istanbul University's Department of Anthropology. He stepped into the television world in 2002 with the program Acun Firarda, which he prepared together with Acun Ilıcalı; the program aired until 2006.

Working as a general coordinator at Acun Medya since 2004, Yontunç has taken on important roles in the production process of many popular programs such as Survivor, O Ses Türkiye, Yetenek Sizsiniz, Var Mısın Yok Musun, Fear Factor, Rising Star Türkiye, and 3 Adam.
