Headscarf was found: Search efforts for Rojin continue

Search efforts launched following the disappearance of 21-year-old Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) student Rojin Kabaiş continue on their 15th day.

Kabaiş, a student in the Preschool Teaching Department at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) who told her friends she was going to the beach to collect pebbles, has not been heard from since September 27.

Search efforts for Kabaiş, whose mobile phone and headphones were previously found on the beach, are continuing uninterrupted in both the lake and coastal areas.

The Coast Guard Van Lake Group Command, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the Provincial Police Department's Seamen and Navigation Services Bureau and Underwater Group Command, and AFAD diver teams are scanning the depths of the lake, also utilizing underwater imaging devices.

Teams on the shore are also utilizing helicopters, drones, and specially trained dogs to continuously monitor residential areas near the coast, abandoned structures in the Bardakçı neighborhood, reed beds, and the area where Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his social media account the day before yesterday that a headscarf belonging to Kabaiş had been found.

Kabaiş's family and relatives continue to wait in the area where the search is being conducted.

Kabaiş's headscarf was found on the shores of Lake Van 2 days ago. Rojin's father had identified the headscarf, which teams found on the shores of Bardaçı village, approximately 500 meters away from the shore where the university is located, as belonging to his daughter.

The headscarf was taken to the Police Department for examination.
