Hostility toward the Republic continues in the AKP: After 'Yeliz', scandalous remarks from an AKP council member

A new name has been added to the list of politicians using harsh language against the Republic of Turkey. Following the "bloody 1923 coup" remark that is still being debated by the public, this time the words of Tandoğan Tolga, an AKP municipal council member in the Çan district of Çanakkale, have sparked controversy.

In a post on his social media account, Tandoğan Tolga stated, "The one who ends 50 years of treachery! Will also end 100 years of perfidy."

Tandoğan Tolga's words recalled the recent remarks of former AKP deputy Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı, who used similar language. Çamlı had characterized the Republic of Turkey as a "bloody 1923 coup," a statement that drew serious backlash from both the public and within the AKP.

In his social media post, Çamlı had used the following scandalous expressions:

"The Noble Nation and Great State, which possess an ancient history, cannot advance on the path to a New, Terror-free, and Great State without settling accounts and seeking reconciliation for the bloody 1923 coup..! A whistle must be blown, and a new, honorable, and clean page must be turned..!"

Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı had accidentally revealed his true identity while live-streaming under the name "Yeliz" from a fake social media account during the presidential system debates in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 2017, after accidentally turning on the front-facing camera. Since that incident, he has been referred to by the public by the nickname "Yeliz."
