How do voters view the reconciliation process? The first poll following the terrorist organization PKK laying down its arms! Here are the parties' vote shares...

While the opposition's calls for early elections continue, a 'poll' polemic recently took place between AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Erdoğan, who emerged from the last local elections with a defeat, closed the door on early election calls and claimed that his party was the leading party in Turkey. CHP leader Özel responded by saying, "If you were the leading party, you would be rushing to the polls, Erdoğan."

Following the laying down of arms by a group of PKK terrorists within the new reconciliation process, which is architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and referred to as a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' AREA Research conducted a new survey.

Nefes Gazetesi columnist Aytunç Erkin covered the AREA Research poll in his column. In the survey conducted with two thousand people in 26 provinces and 87 districts, citizens were asked about their views on the new reconciliation process.

Erkin noted the following in his article:

“So, what is the opinion regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process?

- The rate of those who have a positive opinion about the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process is 58.3 percent, while the rate of those who have a negative opinion is 34 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 7.7 percent.

- The rate of those who view the images of the PKK burning weapons positively is 55.6 percent, while the rate of those who view them negatively is 38 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 6.4 percent.

- Regarding the fight against the PKK; the rate of those who state that it should be continued through democratic negotiations is 52.1 percent, while the rate of those who state that it should be continued through military intervention is 36.9 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 11.0 percent.

- For the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process; the rate of those who agree with the view that 'it is an important step taken by considering the country's balances in foreign policy' is 53.9 percent, those who disagree are 40.9 percent, and the rate of those who did not express an opinion is 5.2 percent.

CHP's process policy: 56.4 percent positive

According to AREA's research, how were the parties' attitudes regarding a "Terror-Free Turkey" evaluated?

- The rate of those who view the AKP's policies in the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process positively is 48.0 percent, while the rate of those who view them negatively is 47.5 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 4.5 percent.

- The rate of those who view the MHP's policies positively is 40.8 percent, while the rate of those who view them negatively is 53.4 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 5.8 percent.

- The rate of those who view the DEM Party's policies positively is 46.9 percent, while the rate of those who view them negatively is 45.1 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 8 percent.

- The rate of those who view the CHP's policies positively is 56.4 percent, while the rate of those who view them negatively is 38.7 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 4.9 percent.

- The rate of those who view the İYİ Party's policies positively is 41 percent, while the rate of those who view them negatively is 53.7 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 5.3 percent.

- The rate of those who support the stance of the İYİ Party, which decided not to provide members by opposing the commission to be formed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) during the Terror-Free Turkey Process, is 43.7 percent, while the rate of those who do not support it is 49.3 percent. The rate of those who did not express an opinion is 7.”

Furthermore, striking data emerged regarding the vote shares of the parties.

In the research, it was observed that the competition between the CHP and the AK Party is neck-and-neck. On the other hand, the vote share of the İYİ Party, which received around 3 percent of the votes in the last election, drew attention.

SURPRISE RISE FROM İYİ PARTY

İYİ Party: 7.6 percent

The change in votes seen in the nationalist base in the poll results created an agenda. While a loss of votes was observed in the MHP, an increase was seen in the vote shares of other nationalist parties. According to the poll, while the MHP fell to the 8 percent band, it was noted that the İYİ Party, which was in the 3 percent band in the last local elections, reached a vote share of 7.6 percent in the poll results.

Zafer Party: 4.1 percent

Anahtar Party: 2.7 percent

TİP: 2.5 percent

YRP: 1.6 percent
