How much will the birth grant be in 2025? Minister Göktaş announced the details of the Family Year Program

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared 2025 as the 'Year of the Family.' Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş made statements regarding the new initiatives to be carried out within the scope of the Year of the Family during a live broadcast she attended.

Speaking on TRT Haber, Göktaş stated that they have finalized the initiatives announced by President Erdoğan within the scope of the Year of the Family at the Population Policy Board.

Göktaş said that one of these decisions is to expand the interest-free loan support for young people getting married, provided under the Family and Youth Fund, to all 81 provinces.

Reminding that they first launched this initiative in the 5 cities most affected by the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Göktaş said, "The application process began with our President's announcement of its expansion to all 81 provinces. They can also apply via e-Devlet. We reached a figure of 4,311 in just 4 hours."

Recalling that in 2015, a one-time birth grant support of 300 liras was provided for the first child, 400 liras for the second child, and 600 liras for the third child, Göktaş stated that they are working on new initiatives regarding grants to encourage fertility within this scope.

HOW MUCH ARE THE BIRTH GRANTS IN 2025?

Minister of Family and Social Services Göktaş continued her words as follows:

"As of January 1, 2025, we will provide a one-time cash grant of 5,000 liras for the first birth. It is a support program we launched within the scope of the January 1, 2025 Year of the Family. We are moving to a regular grant of 1,500 liras for the second child. This is a support that will be deposited into the mother's account every month. For the third child and onwards, there is a support of 5,000 liras. This is also a monthly support that will be deposited into the mother's account. This support will continue as 5,000 liras each for the 3rd child and beyond. I would like to emphasize that we provide these grants without any criteria. They only need to apply. I would especially like to emphasize that our child grants will continue until our children complete the age of 5."

Göktaş stated that in their research, the fertility rate for housewives was determined to be 1.72, and the fertility rate for working women was 1.38.

Explaining that they have brought flexible working models for women to the agenda, Göktaş provided the information, "Our President also expressed this yesterday. We have ongoing work on this matter. We will share the developments regarding this with the public in the coming period."

“WE WILL EXPAND OUR MINISTRY'S NURSERIES”

Minister Göktaş stated that nursery support is also very important in this process and noted the following:

"We are truly taking important steps in this regard as well. Our Ministry already had existing nurseries; we will expand this to all of Turkey. We are also implementing different care models such as the 'neighbor mother' system. Our goal is to support both mothers and fathers in their marriage processes when they become parents and to provide them with all kinds of support without forcing them to make a choice between work and the life cycle. Implementing flexible working models used on a global scale is very valuable."

Emphasizing that they will implement many projects aimed at strengthening the family with governorships and ministries within the scope of the Year of the Family, Göktaş conveyed that many events such as the International Family Summit and the Family Film Festival will be organized.
