İmamoğlu poll divides People's Alliance voters! 'If he weren't a presidential candidate...'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation on March 19, was arrested on corruption charges on March 23 and sent to Silivri Prison. While İmamoğlu's detention continues, MetroPOLL Research conducted a public opinion poll regarding him.

Özer Sencar, founder and manager of MetroPOLL Research, published the results of a new survey on the social media platform X.

As part of the survey, citizens were asked the question, "Do you think Ekrem İmamoğlu would have been arrested if he hadn't been a presidential candidate?"

While 30.7 percent of respondents answered 'Yes' to this question, 56.8 percent said 'No'.

ONE QUARTER OF AKP VOTERS REJECTED THE POSSIBILITY OF ARREST

In the research, responses were also evaluated according to the political preferences of the participants. According to the data, 57.5 percent of AK Party voters who participated in the survey answered "Yes, he would have been arrested," while 25 percent expressed the opinion "No, he would not have been arrested."

Meanwhile, 44.1 percent of MHP participants thought that İmamoğlu could have been arrested if he had not been a candidate, while 39.2 percent rejected such a possibility.
