Inheritance dispute in FETÖ... Is the will document real? Allegations of a forged signature
Following the death of FETÖ leader Fethullah Gülen, a second will that emerged has sparked major controversy and legal battles within the organization. Gülen's brother, Mesih Gülen, has applied to the court, alleging that the will is forged.
Following the death of Fethullah Gülen, who passed away on October 20, 2024, in the U.S. state of North Carolina, an inheritance feud has erupted within FETÖ. The second will, brought forward by Cevdet Türkyolu, who manages the organization's financial traffic, has caused serious debate both among the grassroots of the movement and its leadership.
Gülen’s brother, Mesih Gülen, has applied to a court in the U.S. to halt the execution of the will in question. Amid allegations that the signatures are forged, Türkyolu has defended the authenticity of the will, claiming that the document remains valid despite the cancellation lawsuit initiated in America.
SECOND WILL CREATES CONTROVERSY
At the center of the debate that began within FETÖ after his death are Gülen's royalty revenues and assets. The nine-page "real will" published by former Zaman newspaper reporter Ahmet Dönmez, who is a fugitive and an opponent of FETÖ's current leadership, has been widely discussed within the organization.
PREPARED IN THE PRESENCE OF A NOTARY
According to a report by Sabah newspaper, the second will presented by Cevdet Türkyolu was drawn up in the presence of a notary on July 24, 2024, at the new house where Gülen spent the final period of his life. According to the document, Cevdet Türkyolu was designated as the executor of the will. The witnesses were identified as Adem Kalaç, Muhammet Çetin, and Hakan Serbest.
However, the content and preparation of the will have raised suspicions. Many figures within the organization have claimed that this document could not belong to Gülen and that it is a forged document organized by Türkyolu. The allegation is that Türkyolu made this move to seize leadership within the organization from Abdullah Aymaz.
On the other hand, in the first will opened at the camp in Pennsylvania immediately after Gülen's death, it was stated that the leader had only 20 thousand dollars in assets.
TÜRKYOLU: THE DOCUMENT IS REAL
As the controversy grew, Cevdet Türkyolu made a statement on his social media account. Türkyolu confirmed that a legal process had been initiated in America for the cancellation of the will but maintained that the document was genuine. In his statement, he expressed that the will would be announced to the public once official procedures were completed and that he had no personal expectations. He also stated that he was not involved in the management of the Cascade Trust and had resigned from the Golden Generation Foundation.
ALLEGATIONS OF FORGED SIGNATURES ON THE AGENDA
Despite these statements by Türkyolu, new allegations have emerged from within the organization. Fugitive Halit Esendir suggested in his social media posts that the signatures on the will might be forged. Esendir stated, "Adem Bey made a statement without drawing attention to the sentence in the English text that 'other wills are cancelled.' It is true that Cascade Trust holds the copyrights, but it appears that Mesih Gülen has filed a lawsuit for the cancellation of the English will."
Furthermore, it has been learned that Mesih Gülen claims the signature on the will is forged and has initiated legal proceedings to support this claim. In a program hosted by Asım Yıldırım and Mahmut Akpınar on ASM TV, it was stated that the signatures were compared and the discrepancies were shown to the public.
CALL FROM A FIGURE CLOSE TO THE ORGANIZATION
Abdülhamit Bilici, another fugitive figure close to the organization, also intervened in the debate. In a post on social media, Bilici stated, "The truth will come out sooner or later. Of course, let us fight for what is right, but let us do this with reason and prudence, not with emotion. Let us not destroy our reputation like the Menzil community because of an inheritance feud. Let us find a solution without giving joy to our enemies."
