Inheritance dispute in the Menzil sect moves to the UK: Striking details in bank accounts
The inheritance dispute that began following the death of Menzil sect leader Abdülbaki Erol has reached an international dimension with allegations of irregular property transfers in the UK.
The inheritance dispute that erupted in the Adıyaman-based Menzil community after the death of its leader Abdülbaki Erol has now moved to England.
Claims have emerged that ownership of two dervish lodges in London and Liverpool changed hands improperly.
Mübarek Erol, one of the leading figures in the Semerkand group, is alleged to have transferred the title deeds of properties in England worth 5 million pounds into his own name.
According to the allegations, on Erol's instructions, the title deeds of these buildings were registered in the name of A.B., one of the followers. However, it is alleged that Erol's lawyers threatened A.B. into granting a power of attorney with broad powers and used that power of attorney to carry out a sham sale.
Although A.B. revoked the power of attorney two weeks later, the process had already moved forward.
In the case brought before the courts in England, it is alleged that Mübarek Erol's lawyers opened a bank account in A.B.'s name and that 37 million 500 thousand lira was deposited in installments through this account and withdrawn on the same day.
It is also among the allegations that Erol set up a nominal real estate company in England to transfer the dervish lodges to himself.
