Inspections in 81 provinces by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry! Those products are being removed from shelves
As part of its healthy food inspections, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has banned the sale of products that give the impression of being lemon juice or pomegranate molasses but do not actually contain these ingredients. With the new regulation, the aim is to prevent misleading food labeling and offer consumers more reliable products.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has launched a new regulation to ensure that consumers have access to healthier and more reliable food products. According to the new regulation published in the Official Gazette, the sale of products that give the impression of fresh lemon juice but do not actually contain lemon has been banned.
This regulation will be implemented across all of Turkey and will be valid in 81 provinces.
BAN ON LEMON-FLAVORED PRODUCTS
According to the new regulation, products sold with expressions such as "lemon sauce," "lemon-flavored sauce," or "sauce with lemon" that do not contain real lemon juice will no longer be sold.
Selling such products as if they were fresh lemon juice will be considered misleading, and their supply to the market will be prohibited. This step aims to bring a more transparent approach to food labeling. With this regulation, the Ministry has taken an important step to ensure that consumers have access to healthier and more reliable products.
With the additions made to the Turkish Food Codex Regulation in line with the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the contents of products such as lemon juice and pomegranate molasses will be labeled more clearly.
With this regulation, while it is aimed to correctly state the substances found in food products, it is intended for consumers to make more informed choices. With this change, the Ministry plans to increase food safety and prevent the misleading of consumers.
INSPECTION FOR POMEGRANATE MOLASSES AS WELL
Not limited to lemon juice, this regulation also introduces similar rules for pomegranate molasses products. The sale of pomegranate molasses products that do not contain pomegranate juice or concentrate and contain different substances will now be banned. This decision aims to present the content of pomegranate molasses to the consumer more clearly.
