Intervention coming for exorbitant listing fees: Ceiling price preparation for real estate websites

High fees on listing websites have emerged as another factor driving up the prices of rental properties in the real estate market.

Both real estate agents and individual users have suffered significant grievances due to the increase in listing publication fees. Many landlords have attempted to offset the loss by reflecting the cost paid for the listing onto the rent price.

FEES HAVE RISEN UP TO 200 THOUSAND TL

It has been reported that annual listing package prices, which were around 8 thousand TL in 2020, have risen to the level of 200 thousand TL on some platforms. It was stated that individual users are being forced to pay approximately 3 thousand TL for a single listing.

It was stated that this situation causes price inflation in the market and that regulations aimed at imposing a limit on listing fees have been placed on the agenda.

COMPLAINTS HAVE REACHED RECORD LEVELS

In a statement made by Hakan Akçam, President of the All Real Estate Consultants Association (TEDB), it was noted that over 10,000 complaints have been submitted to the Competition Authority in the recent period alone.

Pointing out that listing fees even exceed the rent of some real estate offices, it was stated that the threat of monopolization in the sector lowers service quality.

It was recalled that the Competition Authority had previously taken steps on this issue and imposed a fine of 40.1 million TL on the largest listing platform in 2023.
