A new development has occurred in the Narin Güran murder case. In the trial regarding the killing of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır, the phone and internet records of her brother Enes Güran, who received an aggravated life sentence, have been shared with the public regarding the day of the incident. Here are the details...
A new development has occurred in the case regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who was found dead 19 days after going missing on August 21, 2024, in Tavşantepe village in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. Phone and internet records belonging to her brother, Enes Güran, who was accused of the murder and sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, have been made public.
The records in question were shared by Enes Güran's lawyer, Mahir Akbilek, via his social media account. Stating that the records show his client was engaged in "daily and ordinary social media activities" during the hours of the murder, Akbilek remarked, "The internet activity reveals not someone who has treacherously murdered his own sister, but the ordinary pursuits of a young person unaware of the murder."
FOUND 19 DAYS LATER
Search efforts initiated on August 21, 2024, the day Narin Güran went missing, had yielded no results, and the little girl's lifeless body was found on September 9, 2024, in the Eğertutmaz Stream, approximately 1.5 kilometers from her home. The incident had caused a major outcry.
Within the scope of the investigation, Narin's mother Yüksel Güran, her brother Enes Güran, her uncle Salim Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar were detained and arrested. In the indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a case was filed against the defendants on charges of "intentional killing of a child in complicity."
In the verdict hearing held on December 28, 2024, at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court, Narin Güran's mother Yüksel Güran, her brother Enes Güran, and her uncle Salim Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "killing a child in complicity."
One of the defendants, neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, confessed to trying to dispose of the body after the murder and was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "concealing and destroying evidence." In his testimony in court, Bahtiyar had claimed that he received the body from uncle Salim Güran and buried it in the Eğertutmaz Stream.
Following the court's decision, the file was sent to the Regional Court of Appeals after the reasoned decision was completed.
POST FROM THE LAWYER
Defendant Enes Güran's lawyer, Mahir Akbilek, shared evidence he believes could be important during the appeal process with the public via his social media account. Akbilek published a record file showing the activity on the social media application Instagram from Enes Güran's phone on the day of the murder. Here is that file:
"Enes's internet activity covering the critical time interval on 21.08.2024 is as seen below:
It is seen that his statement regarding falling asleep on the sofa around 15.00, subsequently waking up due to Kerem's call, answering the phone, and shortly after greeting Hediye and going towards the bathroom to tidy himself up before leaving the house for the village, is consistent with the device activity.
As will be remembered, little Eren had stated that he looked for his mobile phone when his brother was asleep but could not find it. The fact that no activity was detected on the phone until the call that woke him at 15.44, but it was also revealed by GPRS data that it was not turned off, has been largely understood.
A more important and noteworthy element is that the activity after 16.00 was mostly viewing stories on the Instagram platform via finger movements. Let's admit it: if the scenarios against him were true, we would have had to see activity showing that Enes was in great panic and fear during these minutes, or zero activity.
Considering Enes's age and the personality reflected in the file, the internet activity shows that it is not the actions of someone who has treacherously murdered his own sister, but the routine pursuits of a young person unaware of the miserable and treacherous murder.
Just like Eren, Yüksel, Arif, Baran, Osman, and Muhammed..."
