A remarkable development has occurred in the new era that began with the "Terror-Free Turkey" discourse following MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's handshake with DEM Party members at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on October 1.

Following the call made by the ringleader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, on February 27, the organization is preparing to implement the decision it made in May to dissolve and lay down its arms today.

It has been claimed that a certain number of PKK members will surrender their weapons to the relevant security units in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq.

It was learned that one of the figures at the forefront of the process, the so-called leader of the PKK, Mustafa Karasu, will also attend the surrender ceremony. It was stated that Karasu would accompany the organization's leaders in managing the process.

STARTED WITH ÖCALAN'S CALL

At the foundation of the PKK's decision to lay down its arms lies the call made on February 27 by the terrorist ringleader Abdullah Öcalan, who is in prison. Upon Öcalan's call, the organization's senior staff had taken a decision in May to dissolve and lay down their arms. Today, the first concrete step of this decision is expected to be taken.

Another critical dimension of the process is taking place in diplomatic contacts. It was learned that the head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), İbrahim Kalın, held important meetings in Erbil, the capital of the KRG.

Kalın met with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani, KRG President Nechirvan Barzani, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Interior Minister Reber Ahmed, and KRG Security Council officials.

It was stated that the process that will follow the PKK's decision to dissolve and lay down its arms, as well as security balances, were discussed during the meetings.
