It caused hundreds of people to be poisoned! The chicken doner shop owner spoke out

In the Güney neighborhood of Kocaeli's Körfez district, 648 people who ate chicken doner at different times on April 1 at a business selling chicken doner applied to hospitals with complaints of nausea, fever, and vomiting. It was reported that 646 people were discharged after receiving treatment, while 2 people are still being treated.

BUSINESS SEALED, OWNERS ARRESTED

In the investigation regarding the incident, the business owners E.T. (35) and K.Y. (36), who were taken into custody, were arrested by the court to which they were referred. While the business was sealed, it was determined that the samples taken and sent for testing did not comply with the Turkish Food Codex Microbiological Criteria Regulation.

"CHICKEN DONER WAS SOLD TO APPROXIMATELY 2 THOUSAND PEOPLE"

On the other hand, the statements of the 2 operators who were taken into custody and arrested after the procedures were obtained. Operator K.Y., who claimed in his statement that the business was closed during the Ramadan Feast and that they followed the rules, said the following:

"Chicken doner was sold to approximately 2 thousand people in the last 2 days. I do not know why the poisoning cases occurred. This will become clear after the investigations by the institutions. If the chicken is spoiled, it reveals itself during the preparation stage. We would not sell spoiled products at the workplace anyway."

"MY SAUCE BROUGHT A DIFFERENT FLAVOR TO THE SECTOR"

Operator E.T., on the other hand, claimed in his statement that they always pay attention to hygiene rules and said, "I think the people who were poisoned might be experiencing health problems because they haven't eaten 'katık' doner for a long time. I have been in this sector for many years; I have never played with anyone's health."

Stating, "My Hatay-style sauce has brought a different taste and flavor to this sector," E.T. added, "If the chicken were spoiled, it would have revealed itself during the preparation stage; since I was present at all stages, I would have understood if it were spoiled."

"WE HAVE NO CRITICAL PATIENTS"

Making a statement about the people who applied to hospitals with suspected food poisoning, Kocaeli Provincial Health Director Yüksel Pehlevan said, "We do not have any critical patients at the moment. There are many applications made in a state of panic, but we do not have any patients in intensive care. We do not have any patients in critical condition."
