Karar newspaper columnist Yıldıray Oğur evaluated recent developments, including the appointment of trustees to CHP-run municipalities, detentions and arrests targeting Halk TV, and the summoning of TÜSİAD executives for testimony.

Oğur stated that these developments are not only directed at local governments but that the government's stance toward TÜSİAD is also noteworthy.

Oğur said, "The operations conducted against the Esenyurt and Beşiktaş municipalities, the arrests made in the City Consensus (Kent Uzlaşısı) case, and the lawsuits filed against Ekrem İmamoğlu were already known. However, the summoning of TÜSİAD executives for testimony shows that the government views this institution not just as a business organization, but as a political adversary."

TREATED AS A POLITICAL RIVAL

Sharing information he obtained from Ankara's political circles, Oğur conveyed that the government believes TÜSİAD is supporting İmamoğlu.

According to him, this process can be interpreted as an act of intimidation against allegations of political and financial support.

However, Oğur also emphasized that all these developments might not be part of a pre-planned strategy.

He stated that figures close to the AKP within the government whom he spoke with do not approve of these developments and find them difficult to make sense of.

Reporting that some government officials believe these moves are unnecessary, Oğur said, "The figures I spoke with from within the AK Party say that the government is already strong enough and does not need such initiatives."
