It was alleged that he helped a key figure of a criminal organization flee abroad: The luxurious life of that police chief draws attention

In an operation conducted in Istanbul against the Sarallar criminal organization, 3rd Class Police Chief M.D.K. and Kenan Koçak, the husband of singer Merve Özbey, were detained on allegations of assisting one of the organization's key figures, Turan Yıldırım, in escaping.

During the operation carried out on December 28, it was determined that 20 people, including Yıldırım, had fled. Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Bureau determined that Yıldırım had fled abroad through illegal means.

POLICE VEHICLE USED IN ESCAPE PLAN

According to a report by Ekol TV, the details of the escape were revealed as a result of technical and physical surveillance conducted within the scope of the investigation. It was determined that M.D.K., who served at the Edirne Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch, used an official police vehicle to take Yıldırım to the border gate.

Yıldırım, who was hiding in a luxury residential complex in Ataşehir on January 14, was picked up the next day in the vehicle with license plate 22 ACK 841 belonging to the Edirne Police Department, driven by M.D.K., and taken to the European side of the city along with Kenan Koçak. The pair then headed toward the İpsala Border Gate via Tekirdağ and Keşan.

CAUGHT IN OPERATION

Police teams determined the suspects' route using footage obtained from the License Plate Recognition System (PTS). It was determined that Kenan Koçak returned to Turkey on the same day, while the other suspect, Ener Aktaş, entered two days later in a vehicle with foreign license plates.

During the raids, M.D.K., Kenan Koçak, and Ener Aktaş were detained, while 5,000 Euros, 10,000 dollars, and 56 cartridges were seized at Aktaş's home, and 2,000 Euros were seized at M.D.K.'s home.

One of the most striking details of the investigation was the luxurious lifestyle of Police Chief M.D.K. In photos circulating on social media, his pictures taken with famous figures drew attention, and his photo with singer Merve Özbey also created a stir.
