Following statements made by former AKP İstanbul MP Fatih Süleyman Denizolgun, the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.

Fatih Süleyman Denizolgun claimed that his uncle, Arif Ahmet Denizolgun, was murdered, alleging that a coup took place within the community and that the leadership was seized unlawfully.

SUSPICIOUS DEATH OCCURRED AT A FARM IN BEYKOZ

In 2016, Arif Ahmet Denizolgun fell ill at a farm in Beykoz and was taken to the hospital, but he passed away despite all interventions. While information was shared with the public at the time that it was a natural death, the allegations now coming to light suggest that there may have been different developments behind the scenes of the process.

Following Denizolgun's passing, Alihan Kuriş, the son of his sister Gülderen Kuriş, took over the leadership of the community. This change in leadership led to major disputes within the family.

'MY AUNT AND COUSIN ARE SUSPECTS'

In a post made in October 2023, Denizolgun further intensified his claims regarding his uncle's death. In his statement, he included the following: "Regarding my uncle's murder, my aunt Gülderen Kuriş and my cousin Ali Erhan Kuriş are in the position of suspects and defendants. The file is ongoing."

FAMILY FILED A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT

Following these developments, Arif Ahmet Denizolgun's brother, Mehmet Beyazıt Denizolgun, and his nephew, Fatih Süleyman Denizolgun, filed a criminal complaint with the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation in line with the petitions and the allegations reflected in the public sphere.

OPERATION ALLEGATION: 4 DETAINED

Statements made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at his party's group meeting also drew attention. Erdoğan stated that the investigation within the scope of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality extends not only to the municipality but also to the fields of "bureaucracy, the business world, media, religious communities, and intelligence."

Following these statements, as reported by the Aydınlık newspaper, an operation was carried out in Ankara targeting the Süleymancılar community. 4 people were detained in the operation. It was alleged that a high-level bureaucrat serving within the judiciary was also among those detained.
