Justice Minister Tunç's statement on the İmralı meeting: Has the date for the second meeting been set?
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that no request has yet been received regarding a second meeting between the DEM Party İmralı delegation and Abdullah Öcalan, adding, "If a meeting request is made, it will be evaluated." He also made remarks regarding the investigation in which Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat was detained.
Speaking before the AKP group meeting, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç responded to a question about when the second meeting between the DEM Party Imralı delegation—consisting of Pervin Buldan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, and Ahmet Türk—and PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan would take place.
WILL THERE BE A SECOND MEETING?
Minister Tunç announced that the DEM delegation has not requested to go to Imralı for a second meeting with Öcalan.
In his statement, Minister Tunç noted that there was no request, saying, "There is a great effort toward this; if there is a new request for a meeting, it will be evaluated."
Minister Tunç continued his remarks as follows:
"There is a great effort for a Turkey without terrorism. There is a great effort to completely dismantle the PKK terrorist organization, which has threatened the peace and security of our country and nation for 40 years and has been an obstacle to our development and progress, and to ensure that Turkey is stronger in its centennial by strengthening our national unity and brotherhood for a Turkey without terrorism.
We are all supporting this effort. In this sense, if there is a new request for a meeting, it will be evaluated."
