Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı murder: Vahap Canbay's statement revealed

Footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, 21, lost his life in an armed attack that took place on the night of March 19 in the Ümraniye district of Istanbul.

A comprehensive investigation was launched to uncover the background of the incident, which occurred on Sıddık Street.

According to allegations, rapper Vahap Canbay sought support from his friend Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı when he wanted to meet with his ex-girlfriend, singer Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, again.

On the night of the incident, Canbay and those with him went in front of the music studio where Kalaycıoğlu was located. While they were waiting in the vehicle, an armed attack was carried out by a group of suspects. Kundakçı, who was seriously injured, was taken to the hospital but passed away despite all interventions.

7 PEOPLE ARRESTED

Within the scope of the investigation, 7 people, including Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu, Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, and İzzet Yıldızhan, were arrested. While Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu's mother, Zuhal Kalaycıoğlu, and one suspect were released under judicial control, Bilal Kadayıfçıoğlu was released by the prosecutor's office.

CANBAY'S STATEMENT REVEALED

According to the report by Yunus Emre Kavak from the Sabah newspaper, the statement Canbay gave to the police has been added to the file. It was learned that Canbay said, "When the gun went off, we got scared and took cover. At that moment, I noticed Kubilay groaning. They got into their vehicles and left. I have no outstanding debts or disputes with anyone. If I saw the shooter, I would recognize them. I saw a woman from behind who looked like Aleyna."

Stating that his friend Yalçınay was talking to Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu's mother, Zuhal Kalaycıoğlu, while they were in the vehicle, Canbay said, "During the conversation, referring to me, she said, 'Everyone will know their place, you understand what I mean.'"

In his statement, Canbay said, "Yalçınay Yıldız is my friend of 3 years, and also my producer and sound engineer. Kubilay is my friend of 4 years. Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu is my ex-girlfriend. I had a relationship with her that lasted 1.5 years. She broke up with me by sending a message about 13 days ago. There is no argument or hostility between us. About 3 months ago, Yalçınay, Aleyna, and I started living together in Kemerburgaz. Yalçınay was the music producer for both of us."

“CLEANER REVEALED THE RELATIONSHIP”

Canbay said, "On the day of the incident, the cleaner came to pick up Aleyna's belongings and said that she was in a relationship with Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu. Later, she took the belongings and left the house. We arrived in front of the studio around 19:00. Kubilay was in the driver's seat, I was in the front passenger seat, and Yalçınay was in the back seat. Yalçınay knocked on the door, but Aleyna was not there. The cleaner did not let Yalçınay inside; subsequently, she saw my dog Mocha inside. Aleyna had taken my dog when she broke up with me, so I started waiting there to both get the dog back and to talk to Aleyna and reconcile."

Canbay noted the following in the continuation of his statement:

"I thought I would talk when Aleyna came to get the dog. We waited for a long time. During this process, Aleyna and Yalçınay had a video call. Aleyna asked if she had uploaded the recording, and he said he was uploading it. At this time, Aleyna's mother joined the conversation. Her mother didn't like me much during our relationship. While we were sitting in the vehicle, someone knocked on the window and said, 'I don't want to see you here again.' Then they fired the gun. When the gun went off, Kubilay started to groan. I saw that Kubilay had been shot in the abdomen.

I immediately started to intervene as best I could. Yalçınay started looking for help. I do not know the person who fired the shots, I have not seen them before, but I could identify them if I saw them. I have not seen the person named Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu before. While looking behind the suspects after the incident next to the vehicles in front of us, I saw a woman with her back turned; she was dressed in black and physically resembled Aleyna."
