MASAK report revealed: Million-lira transfers from Epözdemir to Fatih Terim

The "evaluation report on the crime of money laundering," prepared by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) at the request of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau of Investigation for Terrorism and Organized Crimes, has been completed. The prepared report has been added to the investigation file.

According to the report by Seyhan Avşar from Gerçek Gündem, the document includes detailed findings regarding the financial activities of lawyer Rezan Epözdemir.

The MASAK report states that Epözdemir benefited from the Asset Peace regulation that came into effect in 2022. In this context, it was stated that a source amounting to 5 million 650 thousand US dollars was introduced into the banking system. It was noted that the current equivalent of this amount is approximately 241 million 903 thousand TL.

According to the findings in the report, cash deposits amounting to 84 million 700 thousand TL, 5 million 650 thousand US dollars, and 269 thousand 800 Euros were made into Epözdemir's accounts between 2020 and 2025.

MASAK emphasized that an assessment should be made as to whether the volume and frequency of these transactions are consistent with his declared income from legal practice.

The MASAK report also listed the 10 individuals to whom Epözdemir transferred the most money between 2017 and 2025. In this context;

5 million 619 thousand TL was transferred to Dilan Polat,

5 million 432 thousand 608 TL was transferred to Fatih Terim.

The report stated that the highest-value money transfer was made to a person identified as an "acquaintance" of Epözdemir. It was noted that 117 million 780 thousand TL was transferred to this individual.

Following Epözdemir's arrest, 2 million 450 thousand US dollars held in the account of one of his acquaintances was transferred to another acquaintance. It was stated that an attempt was made to withdraw this money, but the withdrawal was blocked due to the ongoing investigation.

On the other hand, in parallel with the findings included in the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's grounds for arrest, the MASAK report also noted that Epözdemir made money transfers to certain members of the judiciary.

The report stated that investigations into the amount and date details of these transfers are continuing as part of the investigation.
