Menzil's 'university' project halted! Here is the reason...

The death of Abdülbaki Elhüseyni, the leader whom the Menzil sect refers to as the "gavs," has triggered a major inheritance crisis within the community. It is alleged that there is a disagreement over the distribution of a fortune estimated to reach 17 billion TL. 

Following this dispute, the sect established a "Sharia court" at the Menzil Mosque in the village of Menzil, Adıyaman, on October 22, 2024. However, this attempt failed to resolve the issue.

"10 BILLION TL EMBEZZLEMENT" ACCUSATION

The statement that ignited the conflict came from one of the brothers, Muhammed Saki Elhüseyni. Elhüseyni accused his brothers of embezzling 10 billion TL through the Semerkand Foundation. By taking these allegations to the prosecutor's office, Elhüseyni has moved the controversy into the judicial realm.

UNIVERSITY PROJECT SHELVED

According to an exclusive report by Halk TV, the background behind why the Menzil sect's university project, which was first proposed years ago, could not be realized has emerged during the infighting. Sect members had previously raised concerns that money was being collected for this university, yet it never became operational.

Muhammed Saki Elhüseyni stated that he had opposed the university, saying, "I told my father, 'Father, it won't work like that. Classes cannot be segregated by gender, and the state will appoint the rector and deans. Perhaps communists will shout 'Down with Sharia,' and we won't be able to say anything.' I barely managed to dissuade him."

ALLEGATIONS OF LUXURY SPENDING

Making serious accusations regarding the collected donations, Elhüseyni exposed the luxurious lifestyle within the sect, stating, "The money went to certain people, to regional foundation officials—lavish feasts like those of Croesus, luxury A8 cars, guns at their waists, high salaries... How do I know? I saw it with my own eyes. Perhaps there are some among you who have eaten at those tables."

As the inheritance dispute and financial allegations in Menzil escalate, another element drawing public attention has been the sect's political and economic activities.
