Ministry announces: Major danger in fruits and vegetables imported from Russia! '13 thousand tons...'

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has called on exporters to be vigilant after Russia detected multiple harmful substances in vegetables and fruits exported from Turkey.

According to a warning from the Russian Veterinary Service, quarantine pests such as the Mediterranean fruit fly, plant beetles, and tomato leaf miners were detected in 13.6 thousand tons of products in 2024 alone.

In a letter sent by the Ministry to exporter associations, it was stated that problems were experienced not only with vegetables and fruits but also with cut flowers.

In this context, it was noted that 2,330 quarantine violation notifications were issued. The statement, which warned directorates that issue Phytosanitary Certificates, emphasized that inspections must be carried out in production areas and packaging facilities to ensure that corrective measures are taken.

Following the receipt of thousands of notifications due to quarantine violations in products exported to Russia, a warning was issued to producers against potential export restrictions.

It was requested that sensitivity be shown in all processes from the production of the products to the packaging stage and that no cause be given for quarantine notifications.
