Ministry publishes new list! Meat, yogurt, baklava... What they have been feeding people: 5-star hotel included!
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has exposed new scandals in its January 8, 2025, list of imitation and adulterated products. While fraudulent practices such as poultry meat in ground meat and meatballs, peanuts in baklava, vegetable oil in butter, and food coloring in sumac were detected, a surprising scandal was revealed regarding the Adana kebab served at a 5-star hotel in Antalya.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has released its new list of imitation and adulterated products dated January 8, 2025. While the list revealed many scandalous practices, those involving olive oil were particularly notable. On the other hand, fraud in ground meat and meatballs was also laid bare one by one.
While the list includes numerous disclosures ranging from starch detected in yogurt to peanuts in baklava, the most striking finding was the discovery of fraud in food served at a 5-star hotel in Antalya.
HERE IS THE NEW LIST OF IMITATION AND ADULTERATION
It was determined that the red chili powder of the Garanti Baharat brand contained tomato. It was found that raw beef meatballs at Ada Izgara, operating in Kocasinan, Kayseri, contained poultry meat.
FROM BUTTER TO MEATBALLS, FROM SUMAC TO OLIVE OIL...
It was observed that the fat content in the 'full-fat white cheese' product of the Sühabey brand was low. Vegetable oil was detected in Çamoluk traditional butter, while it was understood that Avara buffalo yogurt contained cow's milk.
Food coloring was detected in the sumac of Özlü Baharat in Şehitkamil, Gaziantep, while poultry meat was found in beef and mixed beef-lamb ground meat at Et Balık in Yüreğir and Sarıçam, Adana. Poultry meat was also found in the meatballs at Köfteci Talih Usta in Bornova, İzmir.
It was determined that seed oils were mixed into the olive oil of Efe Organik, operating in Efeler, Aydın.
ALSO FOUND IN A 5-STAR HOTEL
The most surprising finding in the rest of the list was the fraud detected at a hotel. It was understood that the Adana Kebab mixture (beef) at the Imperial Sunland Hotel in Kemer, Antalya, contained poultry meat.
It was observed that peanuts were used instead of pistachios at Safir Baklava in Dulkadir, Kahramanmaraş. Poultry meat was detected in Bel-et's fatty ground beef, while foreign matter was detected in Balbis Baharat's thyme product.
While it was observed that the fat content of the Sütem brand butter in Isparta was low, it was seen that seed oils were mixed into Saklıvadi riviera olive oil and Ege Olivia olive oil.
It was determined that seed oils other than sunflower oil were mixed into Can Damla sunflower oil, while vegetable oil was detected in Yağcıoğlu clarified butter and Urfalı Çiftçiler clarified butter.
STARCH FOUND IN YOGURT
While foreign matter was detected in Agah Baharat's thyme product, it was determined that there was starch in Anı semi-fat yogurt and Şanlı yogurt.
It was revealed that seed oils were mixed into the extra virgin olive oil products of Lüks Ayvacık Hasat, Ayvalık İncisi, and Ayvalık Tat. It was also observed that seed oils were mixed into Egetat riviera olive oil.
Poultry meat was detected in the beef meatball product of the Genç Köfteci Çavuş firm in Balıkesir, while it was determined that seed oils were mixed into Nur Zeytincilik extra virgin olive oil and Mr. Akyüz pomace olive oil.
On the other hand, it was revealed that seed oils were mixed into the Mudanya brand cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil product of the Araz Et Şarküteri firm, operating in Ümraniye, Istanbul.
