An investigation has been launched into 21 companies as part of the Competition Authority's probe into talent agency monopolies. The report found evidence of boycott agreements targeting a production company.
Following a preliminary investigation into the Casting Agencies Association and certain talent agents, the Competition Board reached serious evidence and launched an official investigation on the grounds that the Law on the Protection of Competition was violated.
According to the report by Atakan Irmak from Sabah, email correspondence between talent agents indicated that they had reached a consensus not to work with a specific production company.
TALENT AGENTS DECIDED NOT TO PROVIDE ACTORS TO THE PRODUCTION COMPANY
Documents that emerged during the investigation revealed that the talent agents had decided not to provide actors to the production company in question and had communicated this decision to both producers and television channels via a signed letter.
Talent agent Ayşe Barım, who has come to the fore with monopoly allegations, also stands out as one of the key figures in the investigation. Barım had previously been arrested as part of the Gezi protests investigation.
