In Şanlıurfa, a woman called the 112 Emergency Call Center, stating that while she was breastfeeding her child, the baby's throat was blocked by milk and it could not breathe.

TALKED TO THE MOTHER ON THE PHONE

112 Emergency Call Center operator Zehra Tankuş, who quickly dispatched an ambulance to the woman's home in the Atakent neighborhood of the Karaköprü district, continued to talk to the mother on the phone.

Learning that the baby was 30 days old, Tankuş told the mother she needed to stay calm and explained step-by-step what she needed to do.

INTERVENED OVER THE PHONE

The operator on the phone explained that the baby should be laid on the arm with its head down and its back should be patted 5 times.

Thanks to the mother following the instructions in full detail, baby Nilüfer began to cough and breathe. A great sense of relief was felt when the child started crying.

It was reminded that the baby should be kept on its side and monitored until the medical teams arrived at the scene.

30-DAY-OLD BABY CLUNG TO LIFE

Thanks to the correct and timely intervention, baby Nilüfer clung to life. Health units reached the scene in a short time and checked the baby's general health status. The family was informed that the baby had overcome the life-threatening situation thanks to the first intervention being performed correctly and in a timely manner.

The Şanlıurfa Provincial Health Directorate emphasized that maintaining composure during an emergency and following the instructions given by the 112 Emergency Call Center are of vital importance. Officials stated that many lives are saved every year thanks to the coordinated work of call center staff and medical teams.

PLAQUE AWARDED

The Şanlıurfa Provincial Health Directorate awarded a plaque of appreciation to paramedic Zehra Tankuş, who guided the mother to perform emergency intervention for the baby who was in danger of choking, for her dedicated work. Recounting the events, Zehra Tankuş stated that they were both happy and proud to have saved another baby's life.
