Muhammed Yakut called hours before his death... 'I will speak in two days' Striking detail about Cemil Önal!

Journalist İsmail Saymaz, in his column published on Halk TV, announced that Muhammed Yakut, who was wanted under a red notice and had been in prison after being caught in the Netherlands, called him a few hours after his release. Saymaz stated that he received a WhatsApp message from Germany on Monday, July 1, at 17:07. The message read, "I am Muhammed Yakut, I would appreciate it if you could call, it is important."

Saymaz noted that when he saw the message, he thought Yakut was still detained in the Netherlands, and thus he had just learned of his release. Saymaz, who immediately called Yakut back, reported that Yakut spoke in a tired, exhausted, and tense voice on the phone, saying, "He said he had a very difficult time inside and had lost 15-16 kilograms. He said on the phone, 'I will make very important statements in two days.' I wondered what he would say, but we will never know now."

RELEASED FROM PRISON, DIED ONE DAY LATER

Saymaz stated that Yakut was released on June 30 and was met at the prison gate by a close friend at 12:30. Yakut told his friend, "I had a very difficult time inside." Allegedly, he had meetings with some intelligence officers while inside and used the phrase, "I know who killed Cemil Önal," but did not provide any names. According to Saymaz, Yakut appeared quite uneasy and feared an assassination.

It was announced that Yakut passed away due to a heart attack one day after his release. However, no official statement regarding his death has been made yet.

WANTED WITH A RED NOTICE, CAUGHT IN SPAIN

Muhammed Yakut, known by the nickname "Deliler Delisi" (The Craziest of the Crazy), had become a topic of discussion, especially with the claims he made on social media regarding Sedat Peker. An investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against him on charges of "looting in concert with more than one person" and "unlawfully obtaining and disseminating personal data." Following this, a red notice was issued for him.

Yakut was caught during an identity check in Santander, Spain, in September 2023. According to information Anadolu Agency based on Spanish police authorities, it was determined during the arrest that there was an Interpol notice for him. He was subsequently extradited to the Netherlands and placed in prison there.

Saymaz concluded his article by saying, "We do not know what Yakut was going to tell. Perhaps he was going to share with the public some dirty relationships ongoing within the state or new information he received from inside. But now these questions remain unanswered."

"Yakut became friends with Cemil Önal in recent months"

Saymaz wrote the following details regarding the period from Yakut's release to his death:

"In recent months, Yakut became friends with someone whose revelations were at least as striking as his own. That person is Cemil Önal. Önal is also originally from Diyarbakır. Önal, for whom a red notice was issued by Turkey on the grounds that he instigated the murder of casino owner Halil Falyalı in Cyprus in 2022, had fled to the Netherlands. Önal, who was arrested in the Netherlands in 2023, remained in prison for 16 months. When he was released, Yakut met him at the gate.

Önal applied for asylum under the pretext of being a 'FETÖ member' to avoid extradition. In an interview he gave to Ayşemden Akın from the 'Bugün Kıbrıs' newspaper, published in three parts between April 14-20, 2025, he claimed that he possessed five tapes belonging to Falyalı. He alleged that Falyalı had bribed a former minister and a vice president in Turkey. Önal's claims were discussed for days in Turkey and Northern Cyprus.

Yakut and Önal invited Turhan Çömez, the İyi Party's Balıkesir Deputy, to the Netherlands to tell what they knew. They agreed to meet in the city of The Hague on May 1. While Yakut was traveling from Germany to the Netherlands by car a day earlier, he was stopped at the border. Due to the red notice issued by Turkey, he was placed in Zutphen Prison. He called Önal and said, 'Do whatever you can, arrange a lawyer.'

Önal called his lawyer friend in Germany. 'He needs to get out. Help him,' he said. That lawyer's name is Bayram Bozkurt.

Turkey knows Bozkurt from the Ergenekon Case opened in Erzincan in 2009. When his name was involved in bribery, he testified against the then-Erzincan Chief Public Prosecutor İlhan Cihaner and 3rd Army Commander General Saldıray Berk under the code name 'Secret Witness Efe'. Bozkurt resigned because he was going to be dismissed for bribery. Later, his name was changed to 'Hakan Aslan' and he was made a prosecutor again.

After July 15, he broke his leg while fleeing from the house where he was hiding and was caught. This time, he testified against FETÖ. When he was released, he fled to Germany via Greece. He currently provides consultancy for the cases and investigations of Turkish fugitives in Europe in Turkey.

Upon Önal's call for help, Bozkurt went to the Netherlands on May 1. They met at the cafe of the 'Rijswijk Hoevevoorde Hotel', which belongs to a Turk. While they were chatting, an attacker fired 6-7 shots at Önal.

Bozkurt described the murder he witnessed to me on May 13 as follows:

'I saw someone coming from behind. As soon as he turned his head, he started running towards Cemil. He had already moved when I noticed. He had put the gun to his stomach. He pulled it out. I shouted, "Don't!" I stood up. He first shot him in the head with the gun. I saw that, then I tried to escape by bending down. He fired 6-7 times, bang, bang, bang.'

The hitman and an accomplice were identified. However, they have not been caught to this day. Bozkurt told me that Önal and his wife had met with the CIA. He noted that Önal had mentioned the tapes in his possession and said, 'I gave them to the relevant places, these are my guarantee.'

Önal's funeral was buried in Diyarbakır on May 13. Yakut, on the other hand, was in prison these days. Yakut was placed in Vught Prison, 80 kilometers away, about three weeks ago due to an assassination attempt. He was alone. He was detained for 61 days.

Around 19:00 in the evening, his bodyguard and driver arrived. They set off towards a venue owned by a Turk called 'Happy Garden'. One part of this venue was a restaurant, and the other part was a sauna.

Yakut said, 'I am going to talk to someone.' He got out of the vehicle 50 meters from the venue. He walked with his bodyguard. A Turk met them in front of the venue. Yakut asked, 'Is it safe inside?' The man said, 'It is safe.' Yakut told his bodyguard, 'Wait, I will be back in an hour or two.' He went inside. Around 21:30, he called his bodyguard. 'We have things to talk about with my friend, wait,' he said. But there was no sound until 01:00. When his bodyguard and driver went to the door, they saw that the venue was about to close. The waiter asked, 'Who are you looking for?' When they described Yakut, he said, 'He died an hour ago.'

Indeed, while the bodyguard and driver were waiting, an ambulance had come to the venue. But they had not thought that the ambulance had come for Yakut."
