Murat Övüç addresses Özgür Özel from prison: 'My only wish...'

Social media celebrity Murat Övüç, who was arrested due to a video he published on his Instagram account, has made a statement through his lawyer.

Övüç said, "My only wish is for Özgür Özel to come and visit me."

"I AM STILL IN SHOCK"

Övüç's lawyer, Çağdaş Çelik, conveyed his client's message to journalist İsmail Saymaz. The message, which Saymaz included in his column on Halk TV today, contained the following statements:

“I am still in shock. I do not know what my crime is. My only wish here is for Özgür Özel to come and visit me.

They came to the house on Saturday night at 03:20. I spent the night at Vatan Street (Istanbul Police Headquarters). On Sunday at 11:00, they took me to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse. While we were thinking we would be released on probation, the judge's order to 'arrest him' shocked me. Everyone at Metris is treating me very well. The conditions are quite good.

My birthday is on New Year's Eve; I hope I will spend it at home.

Why am I inside? Believe me, I don't know either. It was a 20-second video. It was filmed while returning to Turkey from Germany. Germany was very cold. I pulled my shawl over my head to protect myself from the cold. I guess I am here because of that.

I want to get out as soon as possible.

My mental state is not very good.”
