Murder of Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı: Testimony of arrested Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu revealed

In the violent incident that took place in İstanbul’s Ümraniye district on the night of March 19, 21-year-old footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı lost his life as a result of an armed attack.

After the attack on Sıddık Street, efforts began to shed light on what happened behind the scenes, and a wide-ranging investigation involving well-known figures was launched.

According to allegations, rapper Vahap Canbay sought help from his friend Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı when he wanted to get back in touch with his ex-girlfriend, singer Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu.

That night, Canbay and those with him went to the front of the music studio where Kalaycıoğlu was. While they were waiting in the vehicle there, a group of suspects carried out an armed attack. Kundakçı, who was rushed to hospital, could not be saved despite all efforts.

As a result of intensive police work, a total of 10 people, including Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu and İzzet Yıldızhan, were detained. The weapon used in the attack was also seized as part of the investigation.

After questioning at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. Seven people whose procedures were completed were arrested by order of the criminal judgeship of peace and sent to prison. Those names included Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, İzzet Yıldızhan, Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu, M.R., H.C.A., M.K. and E.T. Of the other suspects, Bilal Kadayıfçıoğlu was released after questioning by the prosecutor; Zuhal Kalaycıoğlu and A.Ö. were released to stand trial under judicial control conditions.

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç described Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu’s reaction after the arrest decision as follows:

“Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, who went into shock, said, ‘Am I going to prison now?’ She could not hold back her tears. She began to cry. Her lawyer and the other people with her tried to calm Aleyna down. But from now on, the place where Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu will stay will be the Women’s Prison."

It is stated that new developments may occur in the investigation in the coming days.

After the arrest order issued against her, Kalaycıoğlu was transferred to Marmara Women’s Closed Penal Institution in Silivri.

KALAYCIOĞLU’S STATEMENT EMERGES

The police statement of Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, who was detained as a suspect in the investigation into the killing of footballer Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı, has been obtained.

According to a report by Sabah newspaper, Kalaycıoğlu stated that her monthly income was 250 thousand liras and said she made her living as a singer.

"I KNEW KUBİLAY THROUGH VAHAP"

That statement by Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu:

"I had met Kubilay Kaan Kundakçı through my ex-boyfriend Vahap Canbay. He would run errands for Vahap. Vahap said he used him as a driver when necessary. Sometimes Vahap would send Kubilay to me and he would help me. He would also help with my transportation. He was a younger brother I loved very much. We were also close. He is saved in my phone as Kubilay. Sometimes he would also drive around in my vehicle. He was interested in cars."

"VAHAP HELD ME IN THE CAR"

"Vahap and I had an up-and-down relationship. Sometimes Vahap was violent toward me. Once, we were in the car. Kubilay was driving the car. Vahap held me in the car. This was about a year ago. In fact, it was Vahap’s birthday that day. We argued after leaving the birthday celebration. He held me in his vehicle. Kubilay was the driver that day. Kubilay was a footballer. I know he was in the province of Kars; he was playing there. I had even put him in contact with my former footballer friends."

"His aim was to transfer to a good club. He loved football very much. By putting him in touch with former footballers, my aim was actually to help him. Apart from that, we did not see each other much."

"HE HAD NO CRIMINAL RECORD, HE HAD NO GUN"

"Vahap had a music studio in Bağcılar. That music studio had been sprayed with gunfire by a gang. After that, his family did not let Kubilay see him for a long time. As far as I know, Kubilay had no criminal record and no gun. I never saw a gun on him. He was a naive and decent young man."

"THERE WERE CONSTANTLY OTHER PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE"

"At our house in Beykoz, Vahap would often bring his friends over. He would stay at our house with his friends. My mother began to be very seriously disturbed by this. I then saw that things were becoming strained between my mother and Vahap and that there was constant tension. This time, Vahap and I moved to a separate house. We began living in a skyscraper on the upper floor of a shopping mall in Mecidiyeköy."

"Vahap had a lot of mafia-like friends. Although the two of us were supposed to be living together, there were other people in the house. Other people were constantly sleeping in the living room. These kinds of criminal types were constantly coming over. This situation disturbed me. In fact, there was nothing commercial in this sense, but because his brother had gone to prison and their connections were continuing, there was constantly such an atmosphere."

"I WAS SUBJECTED TO PSYCHOLOGICAL VIOLENCE"

"We argued constantly because of this. These arguments inevitably wore down our relationship. During this period, I was constantly subjected to psychological pressure; I was subjected to psychological violence. I was subjected to restrictions and threats. There were days when I could not go to the gym."

"We fought so often that there were times when we fought in front of everyone. We were constantly fighting. Many fights also took place in front of my mother. After this, he was also extremely disrespectful to my mother. He insulted her. My mother did not like him because of this. At first, she supported our relationship; later, she stopped supporting it."

"HE BANNED ME FROM SEEING MY MOTHER"

"Because he learned about this situation, he began to hold a grudge against my mother. He was constantly speaking resentfully. Whenever the subject of my mother came up, he would make negative remarks about her. In fact, because of him, I did not see my mother for three months. He had banned me from seeing her. Once or twice, when I returned from a holiday in France, he shoved me around at the airport. I asked the police for help, but afterward I did not pursue legal action."

"HE THREATENED TO ERASE ME FROM THE INDUSTRY"

"He threatened to erase me from the industry. He threatened to hold on to my dogs. He repeatedly took my dogs and locked them in a room. Because we had a joint producer, he also had a contribution to the songs I performed. For this reason, he said he would remove my songs and erase me from the market. He was constantly threatening me in this way. My only purpose in life is music. I also make my living from it. That is why I was subjected to these threats."

"IT WAS A TOXIC RELATIONSHIP"

"In short, we had an unhappy and toxic relationship. In recent days, my mental state deteriorated badly and he began turning on me. I became unable to go anywhere. I was only making music at home with the producer."

"I began spending every day crying. This situation resulted in our breakup. The issue on which Vahap and I most often clashed was that he did not accept the mistakes he made."

ABOUT ALAATTİN KADAYIFÇIOĞLU

"My relationship with Alaattin Kadayıfçıoğlu began two weeks ago. My mother was the intermediary. My mother said the family was a respectable family and that Alaattin was interested in me. So we met Alaattin and began talking."

SHE DESCRIBED THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT: I STAYED AT ALAATTİN’S HOUSE...

"The day before, I stayed at Alaattin’s house in Kandilli. Because he lived alone, we stayed together. That morning, I went to work with Alaattin. I needed to record at the studio. We went to the studio in Ümraniye. We spoke with the people in the office there. I was at the studio at around 15.00."

I WENT TO THE STUDIO BY CAR

"While going to the studio, Alaattin gave me an electric car. In fact, I came all the way to the front door of the studio with the electric car. But I could not turn the car off no matter what. I also did not know how it turned off. I called an employee in the office and said, ‘I can’t turn it off, can you turn it off?’ He took the vehicle and turned it off."

"After that, I went to the studio with the dog. At that time, we carried out our work. Meanwhile, while speaking to someone, he said Yalçınay was on the road and that Vahap was unwell, had returned home and would not be able to come to the studio. I relaxed and thought, ‘Vahap will not come to the studio.’ I even told Yalçınay that our relationship was now over and that we should not mix work and private life."

"VAHAP THREATENED ME"

"Later, I spoke with Vahap on the phone. Vahap Canbay said to me, ‘If you are in a relationship, I will kill both you and myself.’ For this reason, I did not tell anyone about my new relationship. After this conversation, Kubilay called me the same day. He said, ‘Sister, I want to reconcile you two; I want to come there.’ I repeatedly told him that he should not come. I told him I did not want to involve anyone, that my relationship was over and that he should spend time with his family, and I hung up."

"I WAS VERY SCARED WHEN I SAW VAHAP’S VEHICLE"

"I had parked the car I came to the studio in somewhere far away. I had left the car far away so no one would know about my relationship. Later, we went out to eat. We left my dog at the studio. There was a cleaner inside. While we were eating, we heard that a vehicle had parked somewhere near the studio. We told a friend who worked there to go and look. When he said the license plate number was 16, I realized this was the vehicle Vahap used. I was very scared. I thought he had come to do something to me. I called my mother and told her about the situation. Then we spoke with Alaattin."

"ALAATTİN SAID, ‘I WILL GO AND TALK’"

"About two hours passed. We saw that the vehicle Vahap was in had not left. I did not go to the studio either so they would not see me. Alaattin came with two vehicles. We were going to pick up my dog with the Vito-type vehicle. He brought a large vehicle so my dog would be comfortable. I got into the vehicle. When we arrived at the place where the studio was, we came face to face with Vahap’s vehicle. When Vahap saw us, he bent down inside the vehicle; we thought it was as if he was going to take something. Alaattin said, ‘I will go and talk.’"

"ALAATTİN HIT THE WINDOW, THEN EXTENDED THE GUN THROUGH THE WINDOW"

"Alaattin hit the window. He began speaking with Vahap, who opened the window. He said, ‘Leave the girl alone.’ When an argument broke out, Alaattin extended the gun through the window. When Vahap grabbed his hand, the gun went off. Then Alaattin came back to the vehicle. I went into shock. I panicked and began to cry. Shortly after leaving the scene, they dropped me off from the vehicle on the road. I then left by taxi."
