CHP Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol made important statements in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, drawing attention to the increasing earthquake risk in Tunceli and Bingöl. Reminding of Prof. Dr. Naci Görür's warnings, Erol requested that the measures to be taken after the investigations in the region be accelerated.

Erol stated that before going to the region as a delegation, they met with scientists and received comprehensive information from Prof. Dr. Naci Görür regarding the earthquake risk in Elazığ, Tunceli, and Bingöl.

Reminding of Görür's warning that "an earthquake occurs on this fault every 250 years and this period has expired," Erol emphasized that the necessary steps must be taken urgently.

THANKS TO THE GOVERNOR OF TUNCELI

Erol spoke with praise about the measures taken by the Governor of Tunceli against earthquakes, saying that the preparations in the region were conveyed through a comprehensive presentation. Stating that the Governor has taken measures such as strengthening public buildings and establishing container cities, Erol noted that these efforts are exemplary.

Stating that an earthquake that could occur in Tunceli and Bingöl could lead to serious destruction in areas such as Ovacık and Bingöl, Erol pointed out that this situation could affect thousands of people.

He stated that a population of 100 thousand in the Karakoçan, Kovancılar, and Palu districts of Elazığ is under great danger.

Erol stated that the infrastructure and buildings in Tunceli carry significant risks. He emphasized that despite the measures taken, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the Ministry of Transport need to accelerate their work in the region.
