National Defense University takes action following Kemalist lieutenants' oath: Martial law decision at the Military Academy graduation ceremony

At the graduation ceremony held at the Military Academy last year, some lieutenants took an oath with swords on stage and chanted the slogan, "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal."

Following the incident, 4 lieutenants were dismissed from the army as part of the disciplinary process initiated by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). This decision sparked debates and reactions in the public eye.

“STATE OF EMERGENCY” BEFORE THIS YEAR'S CEREMONY

Following the incident in question, the National Defense University began taking extraordinary measures for this year's Military Academy graduation ceremony. While preparations began months in advance, new prohibitions were introduced for both students and their families.

According to journalist Müyesser Yıldız's column in 12punto, restrictions reminiscent of martial law are being planned for this year's ceremony. Every movement of the students during the ceremony will be pre-planned and monitored.

Even the entry of families attending the ceremony into the hall and the places where they will stand in the ceremony area will be determined in advance.

Furthermore, strict instructions were conveyed to the students to only read the text provided to them at the ceremony, not to deviate from the program, not to take video or audio recordings, and not to have free contact with their families during the ceremony.
