New details in the Narin Güran murder: DNA of four people found

A verdict has been reached in the case regarding the murder of Narin, whose lifeless body was found in a stream bed 19 days after she went missing in the village of Tavşantepe in Diyarbakır.

Uncle Salim, mother Yüksel, and brother Enes Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for "intentional killing of a child in complicity."

Nevzat Bahtiyar, for whom the prosecutor had requested the same sentence in their final opinion, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence." In the murder case, which has deeply shaken the public conscience and sparked numerous allegations, the answers to the questions "Why was she killed, who killed her?" still remain unanswered.

While legal experts await the reasoned decision, Nevzat Bahtiyar's lawyer, Ali Eryılmaz, made new statements regarding the murder during a program he attended on CNN Türk.

STRIKING STATEMENTS FROM NEVZAT'S LAWYER

Eryılmaz made statements regarding his social media posts, in which he used the phrases "A body buried in the silence of the stream, two cold witnesses left upon it," and "A riddle sealed with the prayers of four shadows, waiting to be solved."

'THE FOUR SHADOWS WERE NOT DISCUSSED MUCH DURING THE TRIAL'

Eryılmaz used the following expressions in his speech:

"Actually, I was trying to make an allegory there. Nevzat Bahtiyar had said he placed one stone, but three stones were found on the body. This means they placed two more stones on top later. In fact, those two stones were the secret witnesses. The other four shadows were not really discussed much during the trial; as you know, the DNA of four other people was found inside the vehicle with the license plate 47 used by Salim Güran."

"The DNA of Devran Güran, Kurtuluş Güran, Muhammed Kaya, and Salim Güran was found. My claim has always been that four people got into the car and went to the edge of the stream that evening. They went to camouflage Narin, who had one stone placed on her, by putting the other two stones on top and covering her with brushwood. I believe the remaining DNA is from that night."

"THEY TRIED TO CAMOUFLAGE THE MOTIVE FOR THE MURDER, NOT THE KILLER"

Stating, "If this had been an ordinary murder case, an entire family and an entire village would not have struggled to hide this killer," lawyer Eryılmaz said, "I think what they wanted to hide here was the motive for the murder rather than the killer. This was a much more serious danger for them.

Whenever I emphasized 'honor' while presenting my defense, the family members immediately became agitated. They suddenly lose control.

They become quite aggressive. The motive for that murder is very important to them. Therefore, they tried to camouflage it. The motive for the murder was very, very important for these defendants," he stated.
