UNIVERSITY FRIEND SPEAKS OUT
Kayhan's university friend and former Çukurova Mayor Soner Çetin detailed the relationship between the prosecutor and the murder suspect, Mustafa Can Gül, in a statement to the Türkiye newspaper.
Çetin stated that while Gül was working as a waiter in restaurants, Kayhan had told him, "You should have a profession, enroll in a vocational high school for motor mechanics." He claimed that despite this advice, the hostility began due to allegations that Gül was using drugs and was subsequently fired from his job. Çetin pointed out that after being fired, Gül tried to return to the restaurant and attacked it by breaking the windows.
Çetin, emphasizing Kayhan’s personality, expressed that the prosecutor was an extremely sincere and warm person who frequentlychatted with people.Regarding the allegations that the murder suspect was in debtto the prosecutor,Çetin responded, "Mr. Ercan was not someone who would leave anyone's moneyuncollected. Even if there really was a debt, this was not a situation he was accustomed to. This might be somethingthe suspect said to defend himself."
Çetin also underscored that Kayhan was a person who always told the truth, saying, "Ercan was always someone who wanted to help people. He would never do harm to anyone."
Another source close to the prosecutor stated that Kayhan gave advice to the murder suspect Mustafa Can Gül and that Gül would occasionally ask him for money. It was stated that Kayhan provided professional support to the suspect and tried to keep him on the right path.
