New development in the Newborn Gang case: Indictment prepared for 18 suspects

An indictment has been prepared for 18 more suspects in Istanbul, who are accused of transferring newborn emergency patients to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had agreements with, leading to their deaths.

The suspects include five doctors, five healthcare workers, three nurses, and one civilian.

The indictment also includes a request for a penalty against Mustafa Kemal Zengin, who threatened prosecutor Yavuz Engin in his office while he was conducting the investigation into the newborn gang.

THEY WERE ARRESTED IN THE SECOND WAVE OPERATION

A second operation was carried out on December 4 as part of the investigation conducted by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, known to the public as the Newborn Gang.

During the operation, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch detained 5 doctors, 5 healthcare workers, 3 nurses, and 1 civilian, whom they determined were acting in coordination with gang leader Fırat Sarı.

An indictment has been prepared for the 18 suspects identified within the scope of the ongoing investigation.

In the prepared indictment, it was noted that a penalty was also requested for Mustafa Kemal Zengin, who threatened public prosecutor Yavuz Engin in his office.
