As the law increasing traffic fines passed through the TBMM, the Ministry of Interior also introduced a new radar system that will instantly notify drivers of issued fines via e-Devlet.
The fines, which have led drivers to protest, claiming that "the government, strapped for cash, will extort money from us in traffic," and which reach 9-10 times the minimum wage with gradual increases, are listed as follows:
Running a red light up to 80 thousand liras,
Failure to turn on the taximeter up to 46 thousand liras,
Not wearing a helmet up to 10 thousand liras,
Failure to comply with a stop order up to 200 thousand liras,
Drifting up to 140 thousand liras,
Driving without a license up to 40 thousand liras,
Leaving the scene of an accident up to 46 thousand liras.
