New move from dismissed lieutenants
The five lieutenants dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) following the 2024 graduation ceremony of the Military Academy due to slogans and an oath have taken the decision not to process their criminal complaint against Chief of General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu to the Ankara Regional Administrative Court.
It was recalled that five lieutenants and three disciplinary supervisors were dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces following the Military Academy Flag Handover and Graduation Ceremony held on August 30, 2024.
It was noted that the lieutenants were dismissed on the grounds that they crossed their swords and chanted the slogan "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" and recited the "officer's oath" after the ceremony.
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT NOT PROCESSED BY THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
It was reported that the lieutenants dismissed from the TSK filed a criminal complaint against Chief of General Staff Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu with the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on October 8. However, it was reported that the complaint was not processed by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
APPEAL APPLICATION FROM THE LIEUTENANTS
It was stated that the lieutenants, taking a new step, appealed the decision of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. According to the report by Sözcü reporter İlknur Yağumli, the lieutenants have taken the file to the Ankara Regional Administrative Court.
It was stated that in the appeal petition submitted by the lieutenants, it was alleged that the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals did not want the truth to come to light.
It was reported that the application was made with the request for the re-evaluation of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's decision.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The lieutenants claimed that the then-Land Forces Commander Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu interfered with the High Disciplinary Board vote. According to the allegation, the first vote in the board resulted in 7/2 in favor of the lieutenants.
It turned to 5/4 with pressure from Bayraktaroğlu, and the dismissal decision was issued. These allegations were taken to the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on October 8.
