New scandal emerges regarding the Grand Hotel, which became a grave for 78 people: Not a ski slope, but a death slope...

While 78 people lost their lives in the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, the chain of negligence regarding the hotel and its facilities continues to grow.

It has been learned that the chairlifts and ski lifts on the hotel's ski slopes were dismantled and brought over as second-hand equipment from Austria 32 years ago and have not been renewed to this day.

FREQUENT MALFUNCTIONS

It was stated that the mechanical systems at the ski center frequently malfunctioned due to being old and poorly maintained. On February 3 last year, the chairlift system stopped due to a high-voltage surge in the transformer, leaving 40 vacationers stranded in the cold weather. The stranded vacationers were rescued after a 3.5-hour operation by teams.

A ski instructor who did not want to be named stated that the systems in Kartalkaya pose a danger and used the following expressions:

"These systems were dismantled and brought from Austria 32 years ago. Mechanical systems around the world have been renewed three times, but nothing has changed here. Remember the cable car accident in Antalya; the condition of the systems here is much worse. Even if the hotel hadn't burned down, a disaster was imminent.”

NO PRECAUTIONS TAKEN

The instructor noted that no precautions were taken even after the transformer malfunction last year, stating:

"During the transformer failure, the chairlift stopped, and we rescued the vacationers by taking them off the chairlifts. Despite this, no renovation work was carried out even this year. People's lives are in serious danger."
