New wave in betting investigation is imminent: 'Not a stone will be left standing'
Journalist Atilla Türker has announced upcoming disclosures within the football community as part of the betting investigation. Türker stated that statements will be made across a wide spectrum, ranging from managers to club executives.
The ongoing "betting in football" investigation in Turkish football is deepening and expanding in scope. Journalist Atilla Türker has made significant statements regarding the matter.
Türker announced that a large-scale sanction process, which will affect many names in Turkish football, is about to begin.
Atilla Türker shared details regarding the process of disclosing prominent figures in the football community. According to Türker, in the coming weeks, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) will begin announcing the names of managers linked to betting.
These announcements will be made at one-week intervals. First, managers will be announced, followed by football agents, and finally, club presidents and executives.
Türker stated that the process will not be limited to TFF announcements and that some executives within the Turkish Football Federation and individuals serving on federation boards will also be among those named.
Atilla Türker said that the effects of the betting investigation will expand and that one-quarter of the football community, which consists of approximately 6,000 people, could face sanctions.
Türker noted that these individuals could be subject to various types of sanctions and that this could cause a major stir in Turkish football.
The journalist estimated the rate of referees suspected in the betting investigation to be around 26-27 percent, while stating that this rate approaches 50 percent among managers. Based on the intelligence he has gathered, Türker predicted that these figures could increase even further in the coming period.
ATTENTION DRAWN TO THE ROLE OF AGENTS
Atilla Türker also drew attention to the relationships between managers and agents in particular. Türker stated that the connections managers establish with agents during their appointment processes will be examined in detail and that the relationships of club presidents with agents will also be brought under audit.
“NOT A STONE WILL BE LEFT STANDING” CLAIM
At the end of his statement, Türker pointed out that if even just 1 percent of the allegations made are confirmed, major changes will occur in Turkish football, commenting, "Not a stone will be left standing."
