Newborn gang trial continues... Shocking defense from Fırat Sarı!

The newborn gang trial, held at the Bakırköy Courthouse 22nd High Criminal Court, took place in the conference hall due to high attendance.

In addition to detained defendants Fırat Sarı and İlker Gönen, a total of 47 defendants and lawyers for the parties attended the hearing. Some defendants who are not in custody were present via the SEGBİS video conferencing system.

PROSECUTOR'S PHOTO SHARING SPARKS DEBATE

During the hearing, the lawyer for detained defendant İlker Gönen criticized the investigation prosecutor for sharing photos related to the defendants on social media and requested the recusal of the judge. The hearing was adjourned for 30 minutes for the request to be evaluated.

STRIKING DEFENSE FROM FIRAT SARI

Taking the floor in the hearing that continued after the break, detained defendant Fırat Sarı denied the accusations and reacted to the perception created by the media:

"I do not see a baby killer or a fraudster in this courtroom. The public has erased us and declared us disgusting creatures. The media should have stopped these reports, but it was not done. We are being judged here based on perceptions."

Sarı argued that he was subjected to inhumane treatment in prison and that his right to a fair trial was violated. Defending his colleagues, Sarı stated, "I do not think we did anything wrong. I am proud to have worked with my friends here."

PROSECUTOR REQUESTED CONTINUATION OF DETENTION

While the Public Prosecutor requested the continuation of the defendants' detention, the court panel adjourned the hearing to a later date to evaluate the requests.
