Özgür Özel writes in the Anıtkabir Special Book: Emphasis on Ekrem İmamoğlu draws attention

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel visited Anıtkabir together with the newly elected Party Assembly (PM) members, High Disciplinary Board (YDK) members, and members of parliament following the 21st Extraordinary Congress. This was the first official visit conducted with the new team after the congress.

IN THE PRESENCE OF ATATÜRK

During the visit, a wreath made of red and white carnations bearing the inscription "Republican People's Party" was laid at Atatürk's mausoleum. Following a moment of silence, the CHP delegation, led by Özgür Özel, proceeded to the Misak-ı Milli Tower.

“OUR NATION DID NOT ALLOW THE COUP ATTEMPT”

Özgür Özel, who signed the Anıtkabir Special Book, included noteworthy remarks. Referring to the political pressure on Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Özel stated, "Our nation has not allowed those who target its will, democracy, and the party you founded to succeed in their coup attempt against Ekrem İmamoğlu and our colleagues, who are candidates for the Presidency—a position you established—from your party. This stance of our nation has further reinforced our faith in the future."

HISTORIC MESSAGE FROM ÖZEL

Özel wrote the following in the Anıtkabir Special Book:

"Dear Atatürk, my esteemed Chairman, we are in your presence together with the Party Assembly, the High Disciplinary Board, and our 28th Term members of parliament who took office at our 21st Extraordinary Congress held on April 6, 2025. We are here on behalf of the millions who stood up across our country against the civilian coup attempt of March 19, 2025, who resolutely defend the Republic and democracy you entrusted to us, and who repelled this coup attempt."

With the belief that sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation, and inspired by you and our founding cadres, we promise to work tirelessly and without fatigue until justice, law, and full democracy prevail in our country. My esteemed Chairman, our nation has not allowed those who target its will, democracy, and the party you founded to succeed in their coup attempt against Ekrem İmamoğlu and our colleagues, who are candidates for the Presidency—a position you established—from your party. This stance of our nation has further reinforced our faith in the future. In the second century of our Republic, we will continue to struggle in every field and every place to ensure the principles of a democratic, secular, and social state of law prevail. We offer our gratitude to you and your comrades-in-arms, and we commemorate all our martyrs and all citizens who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy with mercy. May your soul rest in peace."

CHP leader Özel later visited the tomb of İsmet İnönü and observed a moment of silence. Afterward, Özel took photos with children and citizens at Anıtkabir.
