PKK's so-called leader announces: 'The first phase is over, the second phase has begun'

Duran Kalkan, one of the so-called leaders of the terrorist organization PKK, stated in a statement regarding the process carried out by the organization that the first phase has been completed. Kalkan said, "The first phase was to create the practical-military situation necessary for the transition to the second phase. What has been done has completely achieved this."

Kalkan argued that after the activities carried out, "there are no obstacles left to move to the legal and political dimension of the process."

WHAT DOES THE SECOND PHASE COVER?

Kalkan recalled that the organization's ringleader, Abdullah Öcalan, defined the second phase as "taking legal steps for the resolution of problems and enacting laws for democratic integration."

In his statement, Kalkan claimed that "Öcalan's situation must be changed" for the process to progress, adding, "Outside the success of this process, there is no free and democratic future for the Kurds or for Turkey."

Referring to statements from the AKP and MHP wings, Kalkan assessed, "The MHP and AKP leadership made positive statements and expressed satisfaction in response to what we did. That is very good, but as always... It is just that. There is no practice."

The terrorist Kalkan also claimed that the commission established in Parliament has "remained ineffective." Stating that the commission has not met with Öcalan, Kalkan expressed that the process is "not a choice, but a necessity."

Terrorist organization member Duran Kalkan said in his assessment regarding the outcome of the process, "It is either the peace and democratization that this process will bring, or it is a disaster."
