Prison sentence for Yüzyüzeyken Konuşuruz guitarist over violence against women!
A court has sentenced Can Tunaboylu, the guitarist of the band 'Yüzyüzeyken Konuşuruz', to 1 year and 9 months in prison for assaulting Aybike Çelik. The court deferred the announcement of the verdict.
A verdict has been reached in the trial where Can Tunaboylu, the guitarist of the band 'Yüzyüzeyken Konuşuruz', was being tried for up to 6 years and 6 months in prison on charges of "intentional injury" and "insult" for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend, singer Aybike Çelik.
Defendant Can Tunaboylu and complainant Aybike Çelik attended the hearing held at the Anatolian 37th Criminal Court of First Instance, while the lawyers for both parties were also present in the courtroom.
In his final defense, defendant Tunaboylu claimed that he did not intentionally injure the complainant and did not hold her against her will, requesting an acquittal. The court sentenced defendant Tunaboylu to 1 year and 9 months in prison for the crime of "intentional injury".
The court deferred the announcement of the verdict due to the defendant having no prior criminal record, and acquitted him of the charge of "insult".
