Pro-government media continues to comment on the 'new opening' process: 'A definitive decision to lay down arms is expected'

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi shared information regarding the terrorist organization PKK's so-called congress following the call by PKK terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan to his organization's members to "lay down arms and dissolve the PKK."

TERRORIST ORGANIZATION PKK'S CONGRESS TO CONVENE IN APRIL

According to Selvi, it is anticipated that the PKK will convene a congress in April to make the decision to lay down arms and for the organization to dissolve itself.

It was emphasized that the process is being accelerated to mitigate the risk of sabotage by certain factions, as has happened when such processes were prolonged in the past.

Selvi specifically noted that there is a need for urgency, taking into account that the PKK has faced bloody sabotage in past processes and that foreign intelligence services are active in this geography.

Selvi further argued that the dissolution of the PKK and the decision to lay down arms would only be possible through the reflection of Abdullah Öcalan's will.

A 50-YEAR-OLD PROBLEM IS BEING SOLVED

Suggesting that this step by the PKK is a critical development for the resolution of a problem that has affected Turkey for 50 years, Selvi touched upon the difficulties of the process, stating, "It is not easy; we are solving a problem that has cost Turkey 50 years." However, despite all these difficulties, it is predicted that the organization's decision to lay down arms and dissolve itself at the congress to be held in April will be accepted as a step that will put an end to this long-standing conflict process.

WARNING REGARDING SABOTAGE RISK IN THE PROCESS

In his column, Selvi also stated that the PKK and other organizations in the region are under the influence of international intelligence services, and therefore, every step in this process must be taken with caution.

THE GOAL IS TO GET RESULTS, NOT TO SETTLE SCORES

Finally, Selvi claimed that this process serves a greater purpose and that a peaceful solution must be achieved for both Turkey and the peoples of the region, stating, "The goal here is to get results, not to settle scores."
